The annual Moomba Waterfest will be held over the Victoria Labour Day weekend from Friday 5 to Monday 8 March 2010. It is claimed to be the largest free and longest running community festival in Australia and will mark its 55th birthday in 2010 with an exciting, free program of sport, live music, entertainment, activities and spectacular fireworks displays.
The Moomba Waterfest was revamped in 2009 but all the Moomba favourites remain, including the thrills and spills of the Autobarn Moomba Masters Waterskiing, the iconic Birdman Rally, petting zoo, face painting, roving performers and carnival rides. The festival also includes water skiing, wakeboarding, and various novelty races on the Yarra River.
The highlight of the Moomba Festival is the Moomba Parade which is normally held from 11am on the Victorian Labour Day public holiday. The parade takes place along Swanston St from Little Bourke St to Princess Bridge, ending in the St Kilda Rd Service Lane opposite the Arts Centre.
