felt is a treasure on the restaurant scene in Melbourne, particularly amongst Christmas Day lunch Melbourne restaurants. It has all the qualities a customer can ask for and more. The food is divine, per the review of our guests, and the staff will take care of your every wish. The atmosphere is perfect for couples and families and larger groups of friends.
"The ambiance of the restaurant is sophisticated, charming and very elegant. Set inside a historically significant building, it gives the place flare and originality.
The huge floor-to-ceiling windows are giving you a glimpse of the rail yards, and the timber flooring is superb and broad. The moment you walk into the restaurant, you will feel like you are in a Parisian bistro, with the plush, thick leather banquettes, open space and uninterrupted view into the bar and billiards room. Tables are decorated with tea-lights, olive oil, sea salt and other ornaments.
“Had drinks and dinner here with my friend from interstate who was staying at the hotel. The atmosphere is great, and it was a really nice spot to have a few drinks before a really good meal. There's a mammoth full-size billiards table in a nod to Lindrum. The restaurant was quiet & the service excellent.
We went with a Mornington Peninsula Shiraz, and I had their signature dish beef which had funky heritage carrots and a beautiful sauce which acknowledged their history as a tea house by being described as 'Nong tea' infused. My friend had the duck confit ragout which was also excellent. Hats off to the young woman who served us who admitted it was her first night & went to the chef to explain the dish. She was an excellent waiter, and our glasses were never empty. Thanks for a lovely evening.” North on Zomato

“Amazing! I had a great night there earlier this week with a group of friends. From the complimentary homemade bread and olives to start through to the last mouth of dessert, the food was perfect. My friend's only comment to the scallop entree was wow! Moreover, he would not let me try even the smallest bite.
The lamb main was beautifully cooked, and the flavors melded perfectly together. Dessert was quite possibly the standout of the night. I was not quite sure what to expect from a port jelly and yogurt pancetta, but it was like a trifle - layered in a glass with berries and an apple sorbet.” Alice on Zomato

“A Culinary treat. A truly magnificent dining experience is not just about the food. It is about the quality of each ingredient, the creativity of each recipe, and the ability to combine each ingredient so that it compliments the other to turn a nice dish into something remarkable. It is also about the ambiance of the restaurant and the level of service you receive.

“We ate here before the Keith Urban concert, so we wanted something that we would receive rather fast. I have been to this hotel before, but only for drinks. It is a nice quiet place to dine or for drinks. The restaurant is small in comparison to many others in Melbourne, but it has a good ambiance to it. We had a few small plates to share: - crispy fries with celery salt - they were so good you could not stop eating them. The lamb ribs, the meat fell off the bone and tasty.
The prawn & pork dumplings had a beautiful flavor with a good hint of chili. We had one medium dish, the pork belly. This was beautiful, crunch and tender. Felt has many dishes you can share if you wish and they have small and medium plates. You can also order standard meals, e.g., steak, but there is not a huge choice. The wine list was not a big list, but they had some really good wines. I would recommend dining at felt because I am coming back to try some dishes.” Jenny 0401 from Melbourne on Trip Advisor
We offer you accommodation during the holiday season that will go along perfectly with Christmas lunch at the felt.
felt is located on the ground floor of Hotel Lindrum, a beautiful red-brick building with historical significance in Melbourne. We opened the doors to the hotel in 1999, and we inherited a huge amount of history with it.
The hotel was built around 1900 by the Griffiths Brothers, great merchants with coffee and tea, which used it as a store. The red bricks reflected the Romanesque Revival style, popular at the time, which we kept to this day.
In 1960, it became a publishing site, from Verona Press which used it as printing headquarters, to the Herald and Weekly Times who renamed it :Gravure House.” Moreover, before we turned it into an elegant boutique hotel, it was famous around Melbourne as a snooker-playing establishment in the name of Walter Lindrum.
The spirit of these ages is still lingering in the hotel, and our guests love us for it. While you have your Christmas lunch in Melbourne, you should book a room and explore Hotel Lindrum.
“ My husband has stayed at Lindrum's hotel previously some ten years ago, so we knew how sensational this boutique hotel could be. Would live it up to its reputation? Yes, it certainly did. Close to the Fitzroy Gardens, we went for a walk around the park in the warm 25-degree afternoon, wandering up Collins Street to return to this quiet, restful, calm city hotel with a lovely comforting lounge for our welcome drink. The staff was engaging, warm and friendly.
The surroundings are interesting with plenty of good coffee table books and magazines to browse through. The room and bathroom were spacious and sparkling clean. Did I mention the bed and pillows? Heavenly. Off we went to a wedding dinner at Eureka 89 returning late at night (a tad hungry still) so we ordered room service which promptly arrived. Next morning we called for the free ground coffee for the plunger, it too arrived very promptly. Tarragon bernaise on the eggs Atlantic was just right.” Jeanette A from Australia on Trip Advisor

“Lovely boutique hotel and a central location. The rooms are spacious. We stayed in a superior twin which is large with its own lounge area, but even the studio rooms are large enough to be comfortable (I saw one). The hotel is spotless, and the staff is very helpful and friendly. I had an experience where their service truly shone. I had difficulty sleeping in our room due to an annoying outside noise, some sort of machinery; this would only disturb a light sleeper. By the 3rd night, I could not sleep at all. I told the reception in the morning.
There was not one question a problem at all. Her first concern was that I had not slept well and her second was to upgrade us. She came to listen to the noise, and there was no disapproval when she probably didn't hear it. All she wanted to do was make us comfortable for our last night. We were upgraded to a beautiful front room. Not sure if it was a suite or deluxe city room, but it was lovely. Yes, you can hear the tram but that did not bother me, and it stops at night anyway. So this hotel is highly recommended, and I would stay again.” Tunzakays on Trip Advisor
